Pumps are general machinery which have been widely used in the national economy of machinery,whose main function is to transport liquid or pressurized liquid.As a member of pumps,double-suction centrifugal pumps have been widely used owing to its simple structure and reliable performance.To improve the performance of double-suction pumps,all kinds of improvement and research for double-suction centrifugal pumps are emerging by experts.Though the most former research focusing on numerical simulation,yet research on internal flow of double-suction centrifugal pumps via experiment was rare.In this article,the internal flow field of double-suction centrifugal pumps has been measured by PIV measurement,and its results have been compared with the numerical simulation results.Firstly,main investigation subject is OTS80-270 double-suction centrifugal pumps.The three-dimensional pumps model was established via Solidworks and meshed via Gambit.Then the numerical simulation of flow in the pumps was set up via Fluent.Then the internal flow of double-suction pumps has been analyzed.Pressure and speed distribution of the pump at different location under multiple flow has been compared.The backflow nearing the end of pressurized water chamber has been found.The idea that baffles were added at the outlet of chamber to diversion has been proposed innovatively.The numerical simulation results prove a fact that the improvement effect is well-performed.Then PIV technology was taken to the improved double-suction pumps prototype to measure its velocity field.Representative tip clearance and export domain was selected as the measuring area.The prototype has been mechanical reformed to adjust the need of laser lighting and CCD camera data collection.After the speed results and numerical simulation results were compared,the causes of the difference have been analyzed.PIV measurements results was compared with simulation results.They have qualitative agreement and quantitative disagreement.The causes of the difference have been analyzed...
