| This paper relying on an open state key laboratory project named "Key Technologies of the ECB Asphalt Pavement Performance ". For the serious highway asphalt pavement rutting and reflective crack of disease in our country, SBS modified bitumen doesn’t perform well in anti-aging properties and durability, both the new high-modulus asphalt --- ethylene copolymer bitumen (ECB) and properties of its mixture are studied in this paper.The ECB modified asphalt based on the modifier MA-103 and its mixture have been systematically studied. This paper determines the reasonable dosage range of the admixture by SHRP test; Based on a comprehensive study on the ECB and the road performance of the mixture, this paper proposes the applicable conditions of the ECB modified asphalt mixture; This paper uses ABAQUS finite element software to analys ECB modified asphalt road structure and estimate permanent deformation.Studies have shown that the road performance of ECB modified asphalt is closely relatedto the admixture content. As the dosage increases, high temperature performance and water-stable performance have improved significantly, fatigue properties decreased, although low temperature performance has a downward trend, when the admixture content control within a certain range, it suffers little effect. Both ECB and ECB asphalt mixture unanimously rendered the same law; Asphalt infrared spectroscopy shows that admixture MA-103 is compatible with asphalt only physical, no obvious chemical reaction shows the production of the new functional groups.The set of the ECB modified asphalt mixture layer, the mechanical response and permanent deformation is analyzed and calculated by ABAQUS in this paper, the results shows that the optimal layer for ECB modified asphalt was in pavement middle. The laying of the ECB in the surface layer of modified asphalt pavement can effectively reduce rutting phenomenon, the shear stress of pavement structure suffers more evenly and effectively protects the underlying layer and the substrate. The bottom layer tensile stress will increased than the ECB modified asphalt mixture is not paved, so in application process, it requires to enhance the strength of the top layer material. Through the analysis of permanent deformation at low speed driving environment condition, it indicates that ECB modified asphalt pavement had a betterr ability in resisting permanent deformation at low speeds, it has greater health and longer life. |
