| With the development of economy and dramatic increase in private vehicle ownership, road traffic is becoming more and more congested in China. The mixed traffic environment, which is represented by the urban fringe, becomes a centralized region of various traffic problems, because of its high speed dispersion. Scholars also pay more attention on this region. In order to reduce the accident rate in mixed traffic environment, it has become a top priority to study the relationship between speed dispersion and traffic safety.In present studies, expressions of speed dispersion were put forward. By summarizing traditional expressions, this paper put forward a new concept of road speed dispersion and analyzed factors from traffic characteristics and road condition. Meanwhile the influence of factors to conflict was analyzed by means of road traffic conflict technology, and prediction models were developed based on multivariate Logit Model. By summing up the relationship among speed dispersion, traffic conflict and traffic accident, this paper put forward the assessment of road traffic safety based on speed dispersion and improvement plans for all levels, which were combined with the actual. The results of the study would be of great value for assessments of road traffic safety in mixed traffic environment and help to put forward improvement plans avoiding the waste of resources. Compared with previous methods, this assessment shows more targeted and typical. |
