Cable-stayed bridge is an important structural form of modern long-span bridges. As the main load-bearing component, stay cable is the key to the maintenance of cable-stayed bridge. Regular inspection of stay cable is very important to ensure the safety load and service life of the bridge.But at present, the maintenance measures of the stay cable are not perfect. The detection should be done manually, so the operation risk is big, the cost is high, the efficiency is low. Therefore, it is necessary to design a rope-climbed robot to replace the staff carrying a detection device to monitor the damage of the cable. In order to solve this problem, we design and implement a mobile video detection system for active cable.First of all, the paper illustrated research background and summarized the current situation of domestic and foreign rope-climbed robot and video detection field. Then it introduced the structure design of the robot and the software and hardware platform of development of the video detection system.Then the server and client of the video detection system are introduced. The design of the server is based on V4L2 video capture module, H.264 video coding compression module and wireless transmission module. The principle and design method of V4L2 driver, H.264 compression standard and network transmission protocol are introduced separately. The client introduces the receiving and decoding module and image display module. Similarly the principle of image decoding and X11 protocol is introduced, and then the method of design and implementation is presented.Finally, the mobile video detection system is debugged and verified by experiments. The mobile wireless video detection based on WiFi is realized, which is characterized by good sense of reality, smoothness of video and convenience of installment. In practice, this system has great application value.
