China is now in the progress of educational transformation. Part of the nation has launched course reformation regulations, however, comparatively undeveloped school facilities slowed down the process. Singapore has one of the leading education systems in the world, which is due to its unique educational philosophy. Studies on the renovated design strategies of campus in Singapore can provide experience for the domestic school design.Current education conception refers to a series of educational practice carried out by Singapore government since 1997. Based on the study of Singapore design strategies, various modes for domestic design practice will be discussed, combined with Lutai NO.1 High School project in Ninghe County, Tianjin. This thesis is divided into three parts: study backgrounds and Singapore education reform, Singapore School design strategies, modes applied to domestic design practice. The Ministry of Education released a plan, namely PRIME(Programme for Rebuilding and Improving Existing schools), in 1999 and until now it's been 11 phases. 251 schools took part in PRIME. It began with spatial extension and generated the rethinking for campus design. The description of PRIME will be based upon the background of Singapore education system and educational renewal. It's divided into three periods: facility elevation, flexibility and involvement of high-tech.Then it would analyze the newly developed design strategies which are directly caused by the educational practice. This part includes the descriptions of campus extension by Single Session, rethinking of school spaces by “Teach Less, Learn More”, design renovation by Information and Communications Technology and Future Schools @ Singapore.Afterwards, the thesis would comb the new strategies in school design from the perspectives of characteristic spaces and their relationships. The description is combined with design cases in Singapore. The former part will discuss planning and space organization of school, and the latter would include transformation of ordinary classrooms, multi-functional activity rooms, educational, thematic, ecological public spaces, and humanized sports facilities. The variations in geographical and social conditions make it difficult to apply Singapore strategies directly to domestic practice. As a result, it's necessary to refine, transform and diffuse these strategies and make them meet the requirements of domestic school designs. The discussion of applied modes goes from planning, space organization to detail design. Several domestic design cases are analyzed in order to find to starting point of Singapore strategies. In planning and space organization, three modes are forwarded: dispersed but connected, converged and synergetic, condensed and integrated. These three modes show a logic flow from typical Chinese school design to Singapore inspiration. As for the micro-level space detail design, flexibility is the key concept. This strategy would be applied to the public spaces, learning spaces and logistic spaces of Lutai NO.1 High School project.
