As the increasing scale and complexity of building, there are more and more requirements for inprovement in manangement of building electrical system that plays an important role in project operation, compared to the way based on the traditional CAD drawings which causes much non production time and cost of waste. This study conduct the discussion about the inherent problems of CAD drawings consisiting of the fragmentation of information distribution management and large-scale cross references to, etc. The application of BIM in electrical construction industry becomes more and more widespread and profound because of its parametric and distributed model with IPD, however, which is limited by coarse-grain modeling of BIM at present. Considering SIM is a digital representation of the connected system, there is a proposed scheme of SIM assited BIM based management for buiding electrical system, and assessed from three aspects of software integration(DAD and Revit), data exchange standard and model information granularity. The scheme includes three specific implementation steps: the process of modeling of BIM and SIM, as well as the integration of models. Then through applying BIM-SIM integration model in the lifecycle management of building electrical system the lifecycle design optimization for model, information visual construction management of asset and its cable, and operation fault detection based on visualization the relationship among assets are realized. As there has been limited empirical research that has examined the nature of SIM as a assited tool for BIM within electrical system, a case study was undertaken, an introduction of DAD software to a information management system of one metro station in Wuhan based on BIM, which has improved MEP system management of the station.
