With social and economic development electric power is used by dwellers popularlyand the amount of electric power is used increasingly. Traditional charge of electric fare by manual labor can ' t satisfy the demand for modern man management.The automatic meter reading system for intelligent residential quarters is designed in this paper. Through analysis and study of the correlative technique and cases,combined with the practical conditions of the residential quarters,the automatic meter-reading system based on microcomputer control technique is designed. The design considers sensor technology, microcomputer technology, RS-485 communication technology and infraed communication communication technology as major supports.The paper studies and discusses the application of automatic meter reading system. At first, the paper introduces the development foreground and design blue print of automatic meter reading system. Secondly the paper has an in- depth study and detailed introduction about the collection device terminal.The paper has a detailed introduction to the hardware of the power circuit,micro-controller circuit, power stakeout circuit, communication circuit, data storage circuit and display circuit of the collection device terminal. For the hardware design of every module, the paper showed the circuit diagram, and introduces the work principle in the end.As a modularization of system's software,the programs are modulation, too. In software chapter, the functions of each program modules are introduced detailed.Furthermore, the noise questions existing in the system are analyzed and the effective anti-noise methods on hardware and on software are presented.
