With the development of micro electronic technology and processing technology, aviation electronic equipment is becoming more and more comprehensive. Communication and navigation system of avionic system is an important part, the system reliability is an important guarantee of flight safety. Study on fault diagnosis technology of a aviation electronic equipment is critical to improve the reliability of avionics system, timely fault location can improve the efficiency of maintenance.The diagnosis and maintenance process of the airborne electronic component of communication and navigation system is more rely on the experience of the maintenance person. This paper selects typical component VOR/MB receiver of navigation system to do the research of expert system on fault diagnosis, combining CMM manual, maintenance experience and previous maintenance data, and a fault diagnosis knowledge base is built. It can guide the diagnosis and maintenance of components.To construct a reasonable and effective expert system knowledge base is critical in fault diagnosis. Based on FTA and FMECA integrated method, this paper realizes the expression of rule knowledge. First of all, we analysis fault reason by fault symptom through the FTA method, build up the fault tree of study object. Then combined with the maintenance data, we analyze the hazard of minimal cut sets generated by fault tree through FMECA method, then the knowledge rules on which fault diagnosis based is formed.Finally, VOR/MB receiver fault diagnosis expert system test bench is designed, the B737 aircraft uses ARINC 429 aviation bus, various system exchange information with each anther through the bus. Test platform includes ARINC 429 bus transceiver interface components, external test terminal interface. It is designed completely based on the testing process of CMM, additionally expert system's man-machine interface is designed for locating and querying for fault. Through system testing, data bus transceivers accurately, and the expert system can find out the location of fault nicely.
