In the21st century, the market competition is aggravated day by day and how to take the dominantposition in the fierce competition is an urgent problem needed to be solved for many enterprises. At presentmarket is oriented by consumers, and in order to have advantages in the competition, enterprises must maketheir own products remain attractive to consumers,and meet the needs of the consumers. In addition, thefailure probability must be minimized in the use process of products. Quality Function Deployment (QFD)is a method for quality assurance which is based on the perspective of consumers to meet the demand ofcustomers as much as possible in the process of product design. Failure mode and effects analysis(FMECA) is an important tool for accident prevention-,-By implementation of FMECA in thedevelopment process, manufacturing process, and service process, the quality of the product and after-saleservice quality can be improved effectively.The concept and basic principles of QFD and FMECA, and the steps to use a combination of both areintroduced in the dissertation.In addition, choosing vane pumps for the study,the QFD and FMECAmethod is used to improve vane pump quality.First of all, the customer needs are obtained through customer surveys, and then AHP method isapplied to calculate the weight of each customer’s demand and judge the market competitiveness of product.Combined the results of market research with discussion of the hydraulic pump group of experts, thetechnology characteristics of vane pump and its quantification can be obtained, and then the vane pumpproduct planning house of quality is established.Second, through the implementation of the vane pump failure mode and effects analysis, the primaryfailure mode of the vane pump and the reasons of failure can be obtained. Based on the analysis, theimprovement measures are put forward. What’s more, risk analysis is conducted for each failure mode, andthe risk priority number is gotten.Finally, the risk priority number is transformed into failure mode weighting factor and added into theQFD model, and then the product quality vane pump house is obtained based on FMECA. By comparison,it can be seen that, the quality of products and customer satisfaction are both improved according to thenew guidelines.
