With the increasingly fierce competition of aviation industry, airlines try to reduce the operation cost from all aspects in order to improve their market competitiveness. Engine maintenance cost is an important part of airlines' operation cost, while engine shop visit cost accounts for a large proportion of engine maintenance cost. Thus, in the premise of ensuring air transport safety, managing, predicting and controlling engine shop visit cost has great application value and economic significance.Firstly, important factors which influence engine shop visit cost are analyzed.Maintenance level decision is conducted based on Maintenance Planning Guide.Secondly, two representative engine types, CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B are selected as research objects. Considering their different data volume of historical shop visit, different theoretical models are adopted to build shop visit cost prediction models for the two engine types. Finally, Civil Aero-engine Shop Visit Cost Prediction System is completed on the basis of the theoretical models mentioned above. The research is based on airlines' actual engine shop visit historical data. In combination with engineering practice, model of CFM56-7B engine type which has a bigger volume of maintenance data is built by using partial least squares method. Model of CFM56-5B engine type which has a small volume of maintenance data is built by using the combination model.Based on the study above, Civil Aero-engine Shop Visit Cost Prediction System is realized through Visual Studio. This system can assist airlines to improve their engine shop visit data management level as well as provide guidance for reasonable fund allocation and effective cost control.
