Humanized highway landscape plays an important role in improving road safety and comfort. It can improve the driving surroundings, make the drivers be in a state of relaxation and enjoyment, and then promote the production of positive driving behavior. But the driving behavior, as a kind of driving characteristics, is the result of psychological and physiological factors in cooperation with the external environment. Most of study on highway landscape design center on the relationship between highway landscape and driving behavior. It exists localization and one-sidedness because lack of consideration of the drivers' personality traits. In this context, the paper sheds new light on the response mechanism of drivers' personality to the highway landscape. To explore the inner link among highway landscape, driving behavior and drivers' personality, Interdisciplinary theories are applied, such as traffic engineering, and highway landscaping. And the driving simulator and electrocardiograph also be used in this paper. The research results can provide reference for the humanized design of highway landscape. The thesis falls into three key parts.Firstly, the classification research of drivers' personality. This paper selects the scale of personality classification at home and abroad based on principles of driving suitability. Meanwhile, the Driving Behavior Questionnaire is applied to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the selected scale. Results show that the drivers possess type A personality, have accident proneness. Type A Behavior Pattern Questionnaire can better identify the high-risk groups in accidents, laying the foundation to select drivers with different personality for follow-up experiments.Secondly, Research driving behavior of drivers with different personality under different landscape spatial pattern. Choose spatial patterns as environmental stress factors and set up relevant virtual scene. Then carry out driving simulation experiment after recruiting nine type A personality and type B personality respectively. Indexes are extracted from vehicle operation data and ECG data collected from simulation experiment. Simple effect analysis and pairwise comparison are employed to analyze the inherent law among personality, driving behavior and highway landscape. Through the experiments, it was found that there exist significant differences in drivers with different personality under the same spatial pattern, and so do drivers with the same personality under different spatial pattern. In addition, LD and HF are selected as the characteristic indexes.Thirdly, research threshold on highway length under different landscape spatial patterns. Explore the rule in the trend of the ECG index HF along with the highway length. The models of highway length are established based on the rule. The most appropriate thresholds are determined by the formula derivation. That makes the response mechanism visualization.Research results provide a new train of thought for the humanized design of highway landscape. It promotes the development of the highway landscape design theory to some extent, and has important value for guiding the engineering practice.
