Research On Application Of BIM Design Business Process Of Design Enterprise

Chinese government has put forward a series of policies to promote the application of BIM(building information modeling) in recent years. While BIM-based design process re-building will be a must for those design companies during their tasks shooting and business mode transformation. However, BIM-based design has been hindered with low performance because enterprises are lack of comprehensive acknowledge and enough attention of BIM design process,and also due to the BIM environment of intracompany is relatively not as mature as enough,etc. Therefore, this situation has seriously influenced on the transformation from BIM technology to productivity. Besides, it lacks in scientific tools to measure maturity in the process of BIM design work.This paper established a mature model for BIM design process to assist the design companies gaining a better understanding of BIM design business process and making a better usage of BIM. What’s more, this proposed model can provide orientational suggestions to improve performance of BIM design process.Literature research method is adopted to clarify the current situation and problems of BIM design business process in China. Meanwhile, this method is used to review past researches on maturity model including its components and features. Process and Enterprise Maturity Model(PEMM) is also reviewed from the aspect of characteristics and process.The core content of this paper is the construction of BIM Design Business Process Maturity Model. Based on PEMM, our research establish this model from six aspects, namely, model functions, structure, maturity level, indicator system, assessment method of maturity, and improve approaches. Then, the usage of proposed model is demonstrated from theoretically and practical aspects in detail. C company in Shenzhen is selected as a study object and the proposed model is adopted to evaluate the maturity level of BIM design business process of C company. Some improvement suggestions and means are proposed according to the evaluation results. Questionnaire survey is another research method which is used for collecting the data.This paper successfully established a mature model for BIM design business process of the design companies. The practice of C design company proves that this model has high interoperability and practicability. The result of our research is the initial attempt at application of mature model on the design process. This research provides not only guidance for future research in this area but also other similar fields. What’s more, the proposed mature model in this paper provide a tool to evaluate, diagnose and improve the BIM design process and make better usage of BIM technology.
