Relay protection in traditional substation is mainly in place protection, the protection mode has the disadvantages of complicated equipment connection, many protection devices, complex setting and complex, and long backup protection and so on. At present intelligent substation still follows the traditional local protection, only in the information of protection exchange to achieve network, while the research and application about the protection system architecture, information of station and wide area, and state monitoring of second-device is not mature. With the popularization and application of smart substation, it is urgent to carry out the research of universal relay protection technology applied to smart substation.According to the different voltage level, protection configuration, operation mode and other aspects of the requirements about substation, this paper puts forward a scheme of relay protection system based on voltage level of intelligent substation. For 220 kV and above class, take protection architecture that combine the independent main protection and centralized area backup station protection to improve backup protection performance, simplify fixed value setting calculation, and be the local execution unit for wide area protection. For 110 kV and above class, adopt double-main and double-backup mode of centralized station domain protection system to simplify protection configuration, improve protection performance and reduces the operation cost.Taking the functional requirements of substation area protection into account, a software and hardware design scheme is proposed for the station area protection device. The proposed scheme utilizes the sharing time and synchronous calculation of multicore processor to simplify the complexity of protection hardware, at the same time in improving operation performance, reduce power consumption and improve the reliability of protection. Around the hardware platform and software architecture of the relay protection device based on multi-core processor, related protection algorithm is studied.By the developed universal relay protection system, a communication network health state evaluation method based on the weight ratio of DFP performance index is proposed. The scheme quantifies the data index of the communication network, and determines the health status of the communication network after the index attenuation trend through the network switching. Then this paper put forwards method for evaluating the state of DC power supply based on the stable and reliable domain model. The method is characterized in the parameters of performance about DC power supply, enclosing in a closed area, and the operation state of the power supply is evaluated by the area size of the closed area.
