The traditional architectural industry is facing a huge revolution, the developing requirement "Green" have been integrated into the old architectural principle gradually, which used to be " Utility, Economy and Attractiveness ". Conventional building design methods and working mode are exhausting in the field, but after years of rapid development, BIM's (building information modeling) efficient and flexible mode has been gradually recognized by the industry, especially its advantages in terms of green building design.Firstly, this article combines current development trend of international and domestic architecture, points to the "green" issues in the industry today. Then introduces the theory, including the definition and characteristics of BIM, the definition and significance of green building, as well as the definition and content of passive energy-saving design. Subsequently analyses some examples at home and abroad related to the applied research, proposes the content of this paper is green building passive design strategies based on BIM technology, hoping to put this means into practice, that is using analysis and simulation assist design process.After that, going on researching the BIM technology's specific tactics. The whole cycle can be divided into three phases. In preliminary design, we can study the local weather conditions, the terrain, and building orientation. In basic design, we can study building form, building layout, skin design, and building space design. In detail design, we can use the specific analogue data to support ventilation design and sunshade design. Finally, according to CMPD sea club house primary school design in Kunming, verify the passive design strategies. By means of BIM powerful simulation capabilities to choose the better design form, in order to achieve better energy-saving design effect.BIM is working as a new design method, its powerful functions have become more and more comprehensive, this efficient and visible mode will bring a bright future to the energy-saving design. However, the process also shows the inadequacy of this method, it still need constantly improving, I hope this practice can provide a new thought and inspiration for the development.
