Design And Research On The Main Entrance Of Campus In Cold Regions

The main entrance of university campus in cold region is the window of campus image in special climatic conditions. With the development of urban economic, the status of science and technologyof the campus is promoting which becomesan important part of design and practice of campus and planning theory. The study of designing on the main entrance of university campus in cold region could not only promote the communication between campus and city, enrich campus culture and communication activities,improve the environmental quality of campus, but also make campus surroundings more adapted to cold climate and more in line with the overall layout of the campus and the patterns of teachers and students' travel activities in order to realize the sustainable development of the campus.The paper applies with both theoretical research and engineering practice. Firstly it elaboratessystematically research background, related concepts, research status, research methods of cold region, university campus andthe main entrance of university campus. Then on the base of large number of field research and casescollecting, the paper resolves the components,space size and spatial form of the main entrance of university campus, and analys the feature of the main entrance of university campus in two ways: the compounding of function and intensive form, and then it sets out the design principles of the main entrance of university campus in three ways: urban space, campus culture and traffic conversion. At the same time, according to questionnaire results, the paper elaborates the influence in three ways: climate in cold region, campus general layout and campus travel activities.Chapter Threeanalyses the functional design of the main entrance of universitycampus which owed to constraints imposed by urban space, campus planning and traffic organization from macro, medium and micro views. Chapter Four discusses configuration design of the main entrance of university campus in three ways: group pattern, spatial interface and landscape construction.This paper chooses the cases which are representative and strong effective in order to go on with practical analysis and theoretical improvement, uses a combination of statistical analysis, conditions evaluation, cases and literatures and abstract diagrams to analysis and solve the problem, refine and sum up the rules. I hope this writing to supplement the planning theory of campus in cold region and to provide design basis and reference for the newly built or expanded project of campus in cold region.
