The Study On Simulation Of Operation Efficiency Of Multi-runway Configuration

With the rapid development of civil aviation, the runway capacity is increased.Nowadays,multi-runway is built in many airports, but the advantages of multi-runway are not fully demonstrated.When the capacity of runway is unable to be further enhanced and the runway operation efficiency is low, runway expansion or constructing new runway is chosen by airports. Therefore, before the expansion or construction, the existing or planning runway configuration should be analyzed in-depth to identify crux restricting operation efficiency.Comprehensive analysis is required to determine whether the low efficiency is due to the unreasonable design of the runway configuration or limited operation conditions. then improvement measures are proposed.This paper first defines the meaning of multi-runway configuration from the configuration angle, and critical parameters which are relevant or influential with the runway configuration are identified. Then the operation patterns and separation standards are discussed and the delay and capacity parameters are analyzed. Second, the research methods of operation efficiency are described and the DEA method is introduced to evaluate efficiency.Configuration and operation parameters of multi-runway are extracted as major index to evaluate the efficiency. What’s more, typical multi-runway configuration are introduced and the modeled by Simmod to simulate and testify. Finally, the configuration parameters of the typical runways are used as input data of DEA model while the simulation results of above configurations are used as output data to calculate the operation efficiency.By Study the operation efficiency of typical runways, this paper discovers that the operation efficiency not only relates with the runway configuration, but also is limited by the operation conditions. With same operation conditions and different configurations, the operation efficiencies vary. With different operation conditions and same configurations, the operation efficiencies also vary.By study the multi-runway configuration efficiency, the factors that limit the efficiency of multi-runway are identified, which can serve as reference for decision makers.
