| As a precious part of tangible cultural heritages, historical buildings are the indelible marks that human beings have imprinted in the endless flow of history. Historical buildings in different periods are the material objects left over in specific historical period, which carry important historical, social, cultural and economic values. From the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949 to the reform and opening up to the outside world in 1978, the past three decades were a special historical period in the early years of our new nation. Under the circunstance of collectivity, a great number of outstanding buildings appeared in urban construction, whose shapes, originalities and contexts all aroused enormous responses.All these buildings possessed excellent artistic values. Some of them made break through in architectural technology, achieving dauntless attempts in the application of new materials and new technology;some of them held the memory of the continuous development in the process of infrastructure construction and modernizati on development in the early stage of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which embodied the characteristics of modern cities; some of them where original residents still lived there were the true portrayal of production activities and life experiences, which carried the important social emotions on people's life experience and collective construction of new China, and were the principle part to evoke cities' cultural deposit and vitality.Many cities have introduced relevant conservation regulations for modern and contemporary buildings as well as historical buildings, and scholars have carried out relevant researches on value evaluation and protection for historical buildings. Nevertheless, most of them mainly focus on ancient historical buildings as well as modern and contemporary historical buildings before the founding of the People's Republic of China, while few of them concentrate on the modern and contemporary buildings with certain historical and cultural values. The buildings, constructed after the the founding of the People's Republic of China, is not so long up till now with a large quantity and complexity. Along with the adjustments of urban function, such as “old city reconstruction”, how to quickly investigate and excavate the values of outstanding historical buildings and to avoid their immediate extinctions is the most urgent and primary task in the protection of historical buildings.Based on this, this paper researches and formulates a set of widespread and effective value evaluation standard for the historical buildings constructed after the fo unding of the People's Republic of China(1949-1978), and takes Wuchang District( in Wuhan city) as an example, which not only satisfy the need of protecting the architectural heritages, but also provide theoretical foundation for the value evaluation and protection of historical buildings in Wuhan city and all over China constructed after the founding of the People's Republic of China.Through the research on the basic theories of value evaluation and protection of historical buildings in relevant times at home and abroad, as well as the deep analysis on the value composition of historical buildings constructed after the founding of the People's Republic of China(1949-1978), this paper takes Wuchang district of Wuhan city as an example and provides a set of preliminary scheme of value evaluation suitable for the historical buildings after the founding of the Peo ple's Republic of China(1949-1978). Besides, after the several site investigations and discussions with experts in order to make improvement, this paper formulates a set of value evaluation combining quick logging-in with hierarchical evaluation, and selects and forms the name list of excellent historical buildings in Wuchang District in this period by means of practice and application. |
