Modern civil aircraft integrates the most cutting-edge technologies of the world. Moreover, the equipment on aircraft reflects achievements of many professional categories of science and technology. With the rapid development of aviation technology, the corresponding system of the equipment on aircraft updates constantly, and the crosslinking relationship of signals between different systems gets more and more complex. It is significant to ensure the accuracy of complex cables as well as thousands of wires and test points, otherwise it would cause damage of the equipment and dysfunction of certain systems onboard. It is difficult to process, store, manage and verify the massive non-digital characters information supposing that completing the Wire Integrity Test by artificial means completely. However, it has to utilize lots of artificial means to carry out the Wire Integrity Test for complex aircrafts which would introduce many uncertain human factors and increase the probability of human errors. Designing and developing a set of advanced equipment of automatic testing system for whole cable on the civil aircraft independently and putting it into application could not only increase the labor productivity but also improve the testing accuracy. As a result, carrying out the research of automatic testing system for whole cable on the civil aircraft is an indispensable and a key job of the developing the civil aircraft.The Wire Integrity Test(WIT for short) on aircraft is an essential part of the aircraft final assembly process which has to be carried out before installing the equipment onboard in order to ensure the normal function of each system of the aircraft.This article will focus on the research of the test technique index, the hardware/software requirement and other aspects, and be aimed at designing and developing a more advanced automatic testing system for whole cable on the civil aircraft independently which consists of control host, distributed monitoring terminal, communication interconnected system, on-line detection measurement equipment and off-line programming software. The project comprises the following three aspects:1. Designing platform architecture of the automatic Wire Integrity Test system on aircraft;2. Designing technology application of distributed software based on component;3. Integration and validation of the automatic Wire Integrity Test system on aircraft.The system is controlled by the main control device and transfers the control command through data bus, which controls each test terminal(including cable extension cabinet and function extension cabinet) to test the whole cable onboard. The main control device and test terminals connected by communication data bus, test terminals adopt control cable to connect each other, test terminals and control cable connected by patch cable which conforms to the development direction of flexibility and modularity and achieves several goals, such as good flexible, short implementation cycle, low cost, light weight and so forth.The project is aimed at increasing labor productivity, shortening production cycle, improving test accuracy, ensuring the reliability of all the cables, tested diodes, capacitors, relays, switches, fuses and other electrical components, and diagnosing the test failure types and location rapidly through the cable automatic test equipment. The project will end the previous status when the automatic test equipment of whole cable on aircraft relied on import, fill in gaps in the domestic field of automatic test system of whole cable on civil aircraft and lay a foundation for future development to the civilian goods after completion.
