The collision problems have always been the very difficult problems for the engineers in real projects. On one hand, because of its highly-nonlinear mechanics behavior, the high intensity, the short lasting duration, and some other complex factors. It is fairly hard to obtain calculation results. On the other hand, the collision maybe an ordinary phenomenon in engineering. It has a great influence on the structural mechanical properties and life time so that it becomes such an important puzzle that every engineer has to face with it. By now the theoretical researches about the collision problem are numerous, but available theories associated with the engineering practices are extremely few. All these problems have brought great inconvenience to the practical application.This paper applies the knowledge of mechanism kinematics, collision dynamics modeling analysis method, contact mechanics theory etc and the multi-body dynamics software to a project of the collision problem about a certain garbage container's rollers and the ground. Based on this, this paper does research and obtains a simplified calculation method to solve the roller's collision problems. The method is of value in engineering application.This paper analyzes the movement forms and characteristics of the hooklift when the garbage container is in the course of loading and unloading. Based on this situation, the paper establishes a two-dimensional plane linkage mechanism, and completes solving the kinematic equations of the mechanism. Meanwhile, combined with energy principle, the paper solves the collision equivalent quality. On the basis of above, the change of the displacement, impact force and contact stress of the collision are calculated.This paper analyzes the actual collision process of the garbage container rollers, and puts forward the collision model of roller shaft and bearing inner ring(the main damage factors) when there is something wrong in the process of collision. And on the basis of the model, the rollers' collision contact area and the whole model are simplified. Meanwhile, the spring stiffness model is established. Then, the paper deduces the calculation formula of stiffness coefficient. Using the established model, approximation solution of roller collision is obtained. Finally, the calculation results are checked by nonlinear dynamics software to prove that this method is simple and reliable in this paper. According to the numerical optimization method, the paper optimizes the roller's structure.On the basis of modern theory of topology optimization, this paper applies the SIMP(variable density method) numerical calculation method to get topology optimizations of the roller under various working conditions, and then gets the optimization available for a variety of conditions. Based on the topology optimization, the paper completes the design of structure shape and size, compares the calculation results of different sizes, and then determines the actual size of the roller. In the terms of roller's manufacturing practical problems, this paper also proposes the corresponding engineering implementation method.
