Flight conflict detection and resolution is not only an important topic of ATC automation research, but also a key factor which is related to the safe operation of air traffic management.In the past, these problems are usually studied using mathematical models, but these models are still a long way to put into a practical use. Air traffic control system is a complex man-machine-environment system. In the ATC actual operation, the controllers rely mainly on knowledge experience and skills in handling conflict detection and resolution problems, and it often comes out more effective. This thesis which combines expert knowledge and experience will theoretically analyze and simulate the problem.Firstly, the thesis will make an analysis on the basic workflow of ATC; Secondly, it has expatiated the expert system knowledge representation method of sorts, proposed to use the composite knowledge representation method to solve the problem; Thirdly, the thesis has established the framework of the expert system of conflict detection and resolution based on facts and rules, knowledge base of the conflict detection and resolution process has been modularized, which are divided into conflict detection knowledge base, risk index for the assessment of knowledge base, knowledge base of the aircraft with higher priority in two, the conflict resolution knowledge base, and representated by the method of the composite knowledge representation. Meanwhile, the models in this thesis has added some degree of corrections and improvements. Finally, expert system tools clips has been used to realize the conflict detection and resolution expert system.The effectiveness of the expert system is verified by simulations. The results show that using this method can avoid conflicts effectively, the solutions is also in accord with actual controller's experience and control practice. Method for solving the problem of the system is simple, real-time, and has fast performance.
