The simulation of automobile production lines played an increasing role in the automotive industry. It is used to improve efficiency, reduce investments, and accelerate the progress of design. Based on cooperative project, this paper is aimed at research on simulation of automobile assembly line in order to validate and optimize the design. The main content is summarized as follows:1. According to the analysis of structures of automotive production lines and the specific requirements of the project, the simulation needs were determined. Simulation strategy was designed, including two-dimensional simulation and three-dimension simulation. And suitable platform was selected.2. The structure and workflow of reservoir area of PBS was analyzed. According to mixed-model assembly sequence, the schedule scheme was designed. Reservoir simulation model was built in accordance with solid features on Plant Simulation software platform. Control strategies and programs were designed based on event and sensor trigger mode. A interface was designed with tables and chart showing the information of reservoir in real time. The simulation experiment was designed. The storage rules was verified and bottlenecks was optimized.3. According to the purposes of two dimensional logistics simulation. The output content of the simulation was determined. Models were built based on the analysis of the structure and characteristics of GA lines. Control design and programs were developed in accordance with process. Real-time information collection program and output reports were designed. The capacity of logistics and utilization of equipment and other production information were output through simulation. The configuration of pallets was designed based on results of simulation.4. Transfer nodes was modeled and attribute was set in Demo3 D platform. Three dimensional environment was set up. Control strategies and related programs to realize transfer action was designed, based on analysis of action sequence. Then interference and velocity was checked through simulation experiment. Structure and location of equipment was optimized.
