| Academies are not the only place where ancient Confucian scholars gather,lecture,collect books,learn and relax,but also critical areas for the spread of traditional cultures in ancient Chinese society.With booming development of literature since time immemorial,Zhejiang regions,especially Ningbo city in eastern Zhejiang,have played a vital role in the development of Chinese academies.Taking Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy as the research object,this paper tries to make an objective analysis of architectural art adopted in Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy based on extensive research data and empirical studies from whole to part and from macro to micro so as to spur more valuable analyses and make up for deficiencies in related researchers.Due to the incompleteness or small size of relics of most traditional academies,previous studies thereof used to take several colleges in a particular region as the research objects instead of making a separate study on one academy.The author tries to analyse the architectural art including space,shape and decoration adopted in existing Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy from the perspective of architectural ethics.As one of the famous academies of Zhejiang,Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy is the most well-known one in Ningbo academies and occupies an important position in the history of Chinese academies.So far,most famous institutes in the history have demolished except Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy who still serves as an educational base in scholarly communication in eastern Zhejiang.Despite hundreds of years of wind and rain,Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy still managed to relatively maintain its full courtyard-space shape and single building form,which enables it a rare “living academy” in the study of Chinese traditional architectural culture.Therefore,this paper,taking Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy as the research object,tries to make a detailed analysis of its single building and architectural communities so as to make clear the architectural culture of traditional Chinese academies and provide some useful documentary references for researchers on the architecture of Zhejiang-based academies.Specifically,this dissertation mainly adopts the field mapping method in the study of Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy and aims to analyse the architectural art of Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy in a more macroscopic historical context by way of collecting the historical and cultural information hidden behind the Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy and the historical background of its location.In this paper,various documents on academy architecture are collected,and a comparative analysis made between Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy and other college buildings in sorting out the universality and particularity of the architectural culture of Ningbo Yongshang Zhengren Academy.Further studies on the concrete expression of these architectural arts in the architectural space and forms in academies are also carried out.Finally,this paper makes a research on the characteristics of building construction technology and decoration process in different periods,which made as the technical support for the formation of college building communities. |
