| The research object of this paper is generalized urban waterfront greenways,which include waterfront greenways and its peripheral public green space.To study the usage condition of the site,especially in terms of public evaluation,we select a place of urban waterfront greenways in Chaohu Lake Avenue which locates in the new district of Binhu in Hefei.The research perspective of POE(Post Occupancy Evaluation)in terms of waterfront greenways is public communication.This study aims to assess the impact of substantial spatial elements to users in the selected researching area,make suggestions of improving quality of spatial environment in the waterfront greenways.The methodologies of the study are mainly literature review and field survey.In order to acquire information about the site condition,usage condition,demographic characteristics of users and evaluation scores,we combined ways of observation,semistructure interview and questionnaire to gather data.Research results are analyzed and synthesized in form of words which represent different levels of importance of certain substantial factors.By examining usability of the site,we attempt to build the evaluation model of POE in research area and find ways to improve the rate of spatial usage.In my point of view,generalized waterfront greenways have more practical functions than traditional one.It is a place where people would like to share time and communicate with each other,to travel,live and engage in various amusement activities.Public communication is positively related to amusement activities.The more activities organized,the more communication appears.However,the demand of substantial environmental factors varies among users.Therefore,to provide good experience of public communication and achieve high value of generalized waterfront greenways,it is necessary to know users’ opinions about their communication experience and specific assessment about substantial environmental elements of the space. |
