With the rapid development of the city, the traffic problems have become increasinglyprominent. Subway is becoming the main tool for improving urban traffic tense situation,since it is efficient, convenient, punctual etc. The Guangzhou Metro lines are in a leadingposition in China, in regard of the number of the passengers, mileage and services. Its standpublic space design is an outstanding representative of the domestic industry.From the perspective of subjective evaluation of Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE),this paper put sociology, environmental psychology and behavioral science research ideas intoarchitecture, and established a POE program of subway station public space. In order to builda perfect satisfaction evaluation system of indoor public space environment of the subwaystation, after exploring through the study of specific cases, we used the idea of askingquestions-founding the problem-analysing the problem-drawing conclusion-proposingoptimization recommendations to analyse specific cases and summarize the common space ofthe subway station.The study cases were identified as Zhujiang New Town Station, Station BC, theGuangzhou Railway Station, Five hill stations, a western station and Beijing Road Station,which are representative sites. By analyzing the literature, the behavior map, questionnaires,the statistic and visisting the field, I combined qualitative and quantitative analysis together toevaluate and analysis the passengers’ satisfaction.Through the study, a higher satisfaction ofthe Guangzhou Metro Station public space, for the most passengers, was foud; but there was abig difference between the transfer station,such as Zhujiang New Town Station, Station BC,the Guangzhou Railway Station,and Process Station (non-transfer station),such as Five-HillStation, St. Augustine Station, Beijing Road Stationis, the satisfaction for the non-transfer ishigher than the transfer station; Passengers cared more about the functions and streamlinedesign for the transfer station and cared more about the ancillary facilities for the non-transferstation,and the low satisfaction of the former is lower than the later; as a scientific assessmentmethods, POE can effectively reveal the degree of passenger satisfaction for the public space within the subway station, discovered the problems of public space of the subway station, andthen propose optimization recommendations to implement.
