With the development of economy and the progress of the society, electric energy has become an indispensable material in people's life and work. People use electricity all the time. If there is no electricity, people will stop their lives. In recent years, science and technology develop rapidly. Power quality used by a lot of equipments is constantly improving. Substation as the power of the relay station, providing stable and high quality electric energy, is to ensure the normal operation of substation equipment and avoid serious damage and economic loss caused by equipment failure. Substation equipment monitoring system can monitor the running status and trend of the substation equipment, realize the intelligent monitoring, reduce the manpower greatly, financial resources and ensure the safe operation of the equipment. At the same time, it also provides a strong basis for equipment maintenance time. At present, the research and application of intelligent monitoring system for substation are also widely used in our country.This paper focuses on the rural power grid in remote areas without conditions to realize the automation of the monitoring system of power substation equipment design. First of all, this paper mainly introduces the monitoring principle and method of the main electrical equipment in the substation. Through the oil gas measurement, partial discharge detection and detection of micro water content in oil, the system achieves the monitoring of the transformer. The electrical life and mechanical characteristics of the circuit breaker were monitored. The Fourier transform window is used to monitor dielectric loss tangent of capacitive equipment. It is monitoring the operation status of the arrester by the harmonic detection method. Secondly, this paper describes the hardware design of monitoring equipment, from the sensor to the signal filter. The processor adopts the structure of DSP+FPGA. Then the host computer software is designed to realize the function of data storage, display, faults alarm and so on. In the end, the experiment is carried out to test the monitoring equipment. Test data is more accurate. The system can complete the design of the function.
