With the rapid development of the world economy, the development of shipping industry is also very fast, the trend of large-scale ship is more significant. This has brought opportunities to the development of Qingdao Port in recent years, the number of vessels calling at Qingdao Port growing progressively and large-scale trend is obvious.Qingdao Port own the world’s largest container wharf,400,000-ton super-large ore terminal,300,000-ton crude oil terminal, the establishment of these large-scale terminals promote the increase of Qingdao Port cargo throughput further. With the growing of vessel traffic density, the possibility of accidents such as collision and aground will increase. Therefore, the safety of ship pilotage is attracting more and more attention. From the perspective of safety pilotage, the paper discusses how to reduce the pilotage risk of 400,000-ton ore vessel from three aspects:before, during and after pilotage.Firstly, according to the vessel which is going to be piloted and the prevailing wind and current conditions, evaluate the ship pilotage risk through fuzzy comprehensive evaluation.Secondly, according to the level of pilotage risk, select a appropriate one as the pilotage scheme in the pilotage scheme database. Finally, after the pilotage operation is finished, the actual piloting data of the vessel will be optimized segment by segment of the route. The optimized data include heading, speed and position of the vessel in channel, the optimized pilotage scheme will be stored in the pilotage scheme Database for the next pilotage.
