With the continuous improvement of the level of C hina’s industrial development,as a material handling and transport tool,the crane has played an increasingly important role in the national economic development.As the most important part of the crane structure,metal structure accounts for more than 60% of the total weight of the structure.Achieving the lightweight of the gantry crane by optimizing its metal structure can help to improve its performance and carrying capacity with energy saving.By means of ANSYS,this paper studies the mental structure of gantry crane with such methods as finite element analysis,structural mechanics,dynamics,sensitivity analysis,optimization design and buckling analysis,which is as follows:Firstly,according to the structural characteristics of gantry crane,the simplified parametric finite element model of gantry crane is established in the paper b ased on APDL.Under the calculated load and working conditions,the static and dynamic analysis of the crane’s metal structure are performed to obtain the diplacement,stress distributions,natural frequency and mode of the metal structure.Secondly,the sensitivity analysis technique is applied to the structural optimization analysis.By which,the design parameters which have a great influence on the total volume of the crane structure,are obtained and selected as the design variables.The static strength,static stiffness and dynamic stiffness are taken as constraining conditions and the objective function is minimum volume.The dynamic optimization of the crane’s metal structure is solved by using the sub-problem optimization algorithm in ANSYS.Finally,in order to verify the stability of the whole optimized structure,the eigenvalue buckling of the optimized crane’s metal structure is analyzed with ANSYS software,thus the buckling area of the structure is obtained.Based on these,some influencing factors about the local buckling area in metal structure are discussed.After structural optimization,the dimensions of the gantry carne frame structure and some cross sections in structure are reduced to some extent,and the total mass of the crane’s metal structure is reduced by 19.7%.This method of parametric modeling,sensitivity analysis and structural dynamic optimization based on ANSYS can realize the metal structure lightweight effectively,and provide a useful reference for the lightweight design of other crane products.
