With the rapid development of China's automobile industry,the independent brand market has a relatively high market share.Although the overall R & D capability is gradually enhanced,Chassis core technology is still relatively weak.It is of great significance for the research and application of automobile chassis suspension technology to design the suspension system with good vehicle handling performance.In this paper,it was based on the SUV chassis development project of a R & D center,researched with the combination of simulation of virtual prototype development vehicle and the experiment of benchmark car.The influence of suspension K&C characteristics to the handling stability of system was studied.What's more,the suspension K&C was optimized,which improved the vehicle steering stability.Frankly speaking,the paper provided some reference value for the design and development of automobile chassis.First of all,the influence of K&C characteristics to the handling stability was analyzed,from the aspect of mechanism of suspension K&C characteristics.According to the development of the market positioning and the performance requirements,the suspension K&C test and handling stability test with the corresponding benchmark vehicle were did respectively.Reference to the hard point coordinates? bush stiffness and other data,the simulation model of the front and rear suspension was built using ADAMS/CAR,then the suspension K&C simulation was carried,and the test data of the designed vehicle with benchmark vehicle was compared.The unreasonable K&C parameters about the front and rear suspension of desighed vehicle were found unsurprisingly.Secondly,the irrational K&C parameter of the front and rear suspension was optimized as follows,the toe-in and Kingpin positioning of front suspension and Lateral beam,Longitudinal force front,Lateral stiffness of suspension and Longitudinal stiffness of suspension of Rear suspension were taken as the optimizing target,hard point coordinates of front suspension and bush stiffness of rear suspension were taken as design variable.It was used multi-objective NSGA-II optimization algorithm and carried on ADAMS/CAR and ISIGHT joint simulation optimization.Through the comparison of the simulation curves before and after the optimization,it is concluded that the optimized K&C parameters of the suspension met the design objectives well.Finally,On the basis of the optimized suspension model,ADAMS/CAR was used to build the vehicle model.Five kinds of vehicle handling and stability tests were carried out,such as steady rotation test,serpentine test,angle step test,angle pulse test,and steering return test which was based on the national standard test method for handling stability.Compared with the benchmark vehicle road test,the results showed that the optimized vehicle had a good vehicle handling stability,and the overall performance was better than the benchmark vehicle,which met the performance requirements of vehicle development well.
