In recent years,with the improvement of railway network in China and the increasing speed of the passenger train,how to accurately calculate the railway capacity and reasonably use the ability to organize production operations have become urgent problems to be solved.This situation prompted scholars and experts to reflect on methods of existing railway capacity calculation.Some improved methods and theories have been put forward and applied to practice.It is in this context that the method of average minimum train interval time is regarded as an effective way of railway capacity calculation.However,the calculation method of average minimum train interval time is lack of rigorous theoretical basis,and the analysis results are influenced by the subjective initiative of the decision-maker,therefore,it is necessary to determine the scope of application and the results of analysis and calculation.Deduction coefficient calculation method that used in our country for long time can reflect the maximum capacity of railway section,it is a relatively practical analysis method in the field of Chinese railway.In this paper,the analytical results of the deduction coefficient method are used to test the effect of average minimum train interval time on the high speed railway and the existing railwayand and then verify the applicability and accuracy.First of all,the existing railway capacity calculation methods are analyzed,which their principle and applicability can be obtained.Then,on the basis of the principle of calculating the average minimum train interval time,the related parameters and the limitation conditions of each parameter are analyzed according to the specific line conditions of our country,and the basic conditions of this method are further proposed.On the high-speed railway,the passing capacity of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail "high-middle mixture" mode is used as the case,the deduction coefficient method and the average minimum train interval time calculation method are used to analyze the situation,and it is obtained that applicability of average minimum train interval calculation method from the aspects of the application of the two methods,the determination of the parameters and the degree of difficulty.On the existing railway,the same routine are used in Dazhou-Tanjiaba section of Xiangfan-Chongqing railway.Based on the above results,we can only get the following conclusions:the calculation method of the average minimum train interval time is only applicable to the high-speed railway in our country with great care and restraint,and it is not applicable at this stage in existing auto-block double line.The research results can provide some reference for the application of the method of minimum train interval time in China’s railwy.
