With the rapid development of the whole world,the airplane,as the most efficient means of transportation,increasingly shows its necessary role on social activity.As the nervous system of the airplane,wiring system covers every corner of the airplane,including electrical and control systems.It is the main power source of every system.Facing the great demand of airplane,and meeting the requirements,including accuracy,safety and short design lead time,the design of aviation wire harness need to depend on digital product design.In this paper,firstly,an aviation wire harness design flow will be discussed based on the thought of computer aided design.And then the key technology of CATIA routing will be introduced.It includes establishing electrical components library with parametric concept,meeting design rules and dealing with flexible harness.The routing rationality will be assessed by three methods.They are interference checking comes with the software,interference checking based on wiring whirl envelop,and electrical connectivity.Finally,an routing design example in CATIA will be illustrated in an unpressurized area of one airplane.The proposed study method is simulating the wiring whirl envelop,especially for flexible harness,to ensure the safety of flight.There are totally two methods for whirl envelop study,one is ellipse rule and the other is support point dragging rule.Interference and electrical connectivity of the wiring system will be checked to ensure a good design quality input for manufacturing.
