The renewal of the historical area is a very important subject in the process of urban construction. In the past ten years, the construction of the historical area is generally adopted a brutal way to maximize the economic benefits. Many "fake antiques" was builded in the historical area after it was in the razed to the ground. What was worse, the original district residents can only move to the suburbs of the city. With the pace of urban construction in China continues to accelerate, the historical area left less and less.At the same time, more and more sound appeared to question the existing historical area updating pattern. How to balance the interests of the residents, government and the developers from the perpective of the residents' reasonable willingness,to live in the place where the lived and improve the quality of living space, which may be the universal value of the current urban renewal of the historical area designing patterns.I take the Xiaoxihu area of NanJing as an example, trying to find out the suitable pattern of Urban Renewal to balance the interests of all parts,at the same time, improving the the original area residents living environment and living quality. This design is divided into five parts, area investigation, area analysis, site plan, plot design and achievement display. Some data of the plots and buildings is acquired from the investigation, some data is acquired from Nanjing Municipal Planning Bureau and Qinhuai district property management committee.Based on the investigation,I proposed the design principle, promoted the design process. In order to obtain a relatively reasonable renewal pattern,The corresponding measures are put forward for the specific problems of the plots, which are based on the classification of plots.
