| Throughout the process of city development, the development of urban form is closely related to the change of urban traffic technologies. The characteristics of the city at different stages are determined by the dialectical relationship between urban development and traffic conditions. Traffic development changes urban spatial form. The change in urban spatial form promotes the development of urban transport.Urban transport interacts with urban space closely. The main mode of urban transport has developed from human-powered transport and animal-powered transport into motorized transportation. Although motorized transportation promotes the rapid development of urban economy, environmental pollution, traffic congestion and many other urban problems are caused at the same time. In recent years, people have gradually begun to pursue a healthy lifestyle. Slow traffic emerges as the times require. A more humane and more appropriate development way of public open space where people do activities on is being explored as well, because of the people’s demand for richer social lives. This study analyzes the interaction between slow traffic system and urban open space from the rise of urban slow traffic and the demand for public open space. The analysis starts from the problem of the interaction between transportation and space.A communication strategy of slow traffic is proposed for the reconstruction of urban open space, based on the analysis of behavioral characteristics and psychological characteristics of slow traffic. All the elements of public open space are connected through the slow traffic system to form a continuous network of public open space with slow traffic system. Changchun Chaoyang District is taken as an example to carry out the practice of the reconstruction of public open space based on the proposed communication strategy of slow traffic. The reconstruction of public open space caused by the slow traffic system not only can improve the application efficiency of the slow traffic system and public open space, but also promote their interaction. It can generate more new urban features and meet the needs of new urban lifestyle. |
