Ceramic is a kind of new building material which has excellent properties such as low density,light weight,high strength and thermal insulation.It is one of the artificial lightweight aggregates?lightweight aggregate?.The shale ceramsite manufactured by shale raw materials and non-coordinating methods has been widely exploited because of its simple preparation process,better performance,more environmentally friendly and energy-saving features.At present,the major ceramsite market is ceramic clay ceramic and fly ash ceramic-based in Sichuan and Chongqing,and the original rich shale resources are less developed.Full use of the shale resources in Sichuan and Chongqing,production of light shale have broad market prospects,and it has a facilitating role to lightweight aggregate industry and the economy in Sichuan and Chongqing.The characteristics of preparing high-quality shale ceramsite raw materials has been summed up by non-coordinating methods based on the analysis of chemical composition,mineral composition and structural characteristics of the high quality shale ceramsite raw materials in a plant of Yiyang,Hunan.Found shale materials in Sichuan and Chongqing,analyzed its chemical and mineralogical composition and structural characteristics,after that the shale samples could be found which had similar identify indicators in multiples of performance to Yiyang.The better firing shale samples would be conducted for the indicator of expansion ratio.And then explored the samples better inflatable calcination temperature,the optimum heating rate,better holding time and optimal particle size,so as to optimize the preparation process,as well as to analyze the apparent morphology and physical properties of the ceramic under optimal conditions.The main results are as follows:1.Analysis of Hunan Yiyang slate sample shows:the content of SiO2 is 65.10%,the content of Al2O3 is 19.74%,the content of Fe2O3 is 6.43%,the content of K2O+Na2O is 5.10%,the content of CaO+MgO is 2.62%.The mineral composition features of Hunan Yiyang slate samples:the samples mainly contain illite,chlorite,quartz and hematite,and the content of clay minerals is 48%.The mineral tructural features of Hunan Yiyang slate samples:observing Hunan Yiyang slate specimen we can find that sample are density and page structure development.The mineral particles are oriented under the microscope.The mineral composition mainly include small scaly illite and chlorite.The clastic is mainly content of less and small quartz grains.Combined with the extensive literature,a process for the preparation of raw materials is summed up in line with the non-ceramic which should be:??SiO2?=5070%,??Al2O3?=1323%,??Fe2O3?=410%,??K2O+Na2O?=1.56.6%;It is preferably that the total amount of burnt shale swelling clay mineral is greater than40%,which is best composed by illite,smectite,chlorite,sericite,followed by kaolinite,zeolite,pyrite,hematite,Glauber's salt,calcite and dolomite.Structure should have the foliation structure development,and dense,mineral particles were observed alignment,terrigenous content should be less.2.Analysis of Sichuan Guangyuan shale samples and optimizing the preparation process to obtain the following results:the content of SiO2 is 65.77%,the content of Al2O3 is 19.00%,the content of Fe2O3 is 5.72%,the content of K2O+Na2O is 4.96%,the content of CaO+MgO is 3.13%,every content satisfy the original request that ceramsite shale demanded.The mineral composition features of Sichuan Guangyuan shale samples:the samples mainly contain illite,chlorite,quartz and hematite,and the content of clay minerals is 45%.The mineral tructural features of Sichuan Guangyuan shale samples:observing Sichuan Guangyuan shale specimen we can find that sample are density and page structure development.The mineral particles are oriented under the microscope.The mineral composition mainly include Small scaly illite and chlorite.The clastic is mainly content of less and small quartz grains.Optimum calcining process approached by single change of variables is:calcination temperature is 1250?,heating rate is 10?/min,heat preservation time is20min.The chemical of manufactured ceramite is near to the origin.The mineral composition has changed significantly,especially the diffraction peak of chlorite and illite have disappeared completely.But the location of the original peak did not change significantly,which means a small amount of new material generated during the reaction,and the new material is spinel.The physical properties of the ceramic related test,the test results are standard.3.Analysis of Chongqing shale samples and optimizing the preparation process to obtain the following results:the content of SiO2 is 63.22%,the content of Al2O3 is19.94%,the content of Fe2O3 is 6.91%,the content of K2O+Na2O is 5.40%,the content of CaO+MgO is 3.26%,The mineral composition features of Chongqing shale samples:the samples mainly contain illite,chlorite,quartz and hematite,and the content of clay minerals is 53%,which are higher than Taojiang Hunan and Sichuan Guangyuan.The mineral tructural features of Chongqing shale samples:observing Chongqing shale specimen we can find that sample are density and page structure development.The mineral particles are oriented under the microscope.The mineral composition mainly include Small scaly illite and chlorite.The clastic is mainly content of less and small quartz grains.Optimum calcining process approached by single change of variables is:Calcination temperature is 1150?,heating rate is 8?/min,heat preservation time is25min,particle size should be 35mm.The character of ceramite made by optimized process is similar to the samples of Guangyuan,Sichuan,and the chemical of manufactured ceramite is near to the origin.The mineral composition has changed significantly,especially the diffraction peak of chlorite and illite have disappeared completely.But the location of the original peak did not change significantly,which means a small amount of new material generated during the reaction,and the new material is spinel.The physical properties of the ceramic related test,the test results are standard.
