Trinidad Lake Asphalt(TLA be called for short)is one of the world’s most famous natural asphalt,produced in the northeastern region of South America Trinidad Island,rich in reserves.TLA can not be used directly as a road asphalt because of its high content of asphaltene and 36% ash.But TLA can be a good way to improve the road performance of the mixture when it is used as modifier or common matrix asphalt.In this paper,according to the present situation of utilization of TLA at home and abroad,and existing studies of TLA modified asphalt,then carried out a series of laboratory tests on TLA、TLA modified asphalt and mixture.We think that TLA as modified asphalt in road engineering relative have superiority than other modified asphalt.With the increase of current traffic volume and the heavy vehicles,the test of the road was getting more serious.Choosing a good modified material to modify the substrate asphalt can greatly improve the road performance and service life.In view of the many shortcomings of traditional modifiers.As a kind of natural asphalt,TLA can has a good coMpatibility with ordinary matrix asphalt.TLA was widely used in road engineering,and has a relatively broad application prospects.Firstly,we analyzed the composition and structure of the ordinary asphalt and natural lake asphalt.It is found that TLA has good high temperature stability because of the higher content of asphaltene than other petroleum asphalt and natural asphaltene.And then select the Zhonghai 70# heavy traffic asphalt as a matrix asphalt,coMparative analysis of modification and performance index with 5% SBS、25% TLA、30% TLA、35% TLA、40% TLA、50% TLA,including physical indicators,viscosity,ductility,temperature performance and fatigue aging properties and so on.Analyze the test results and draw the relevant conclusionsUsing the trial method to calculate the best amount of asphalt for the various layers of the upper and middle layers.And then carried out the study of road performance analysis,including high temperature stability,water stability,low temperature crack resistance,then getted the relevant conclusions.The results show that TLA can improve the high temperature performance and water stability of asphalt mixture,to ensure its low temperature crack resistance.The relationship and in a certain range of performance is proportional dosage.This paper carried out the study based on the theory of “TLA modified asphalt in Anhui province highway application technology research”,then construction TLA modified asphalt test road in Anhui Province,Si County to Sihong section of Si Xu highway to research on the technical performance of TLA.Then analysising the TLA modified asphalt mixture of road performance comprehensivly,summed up the TLA modified asphalt mixture construction characteristics,superiority,etc.It can provide theoretical basis and project support for the large-scale application of TLA in pavement engineering.
