Research On Evaluation Of Yuhang City Street Skylines

Unique skyline landscape, as a visual impression of the city,directly reflects the development of history, culture and socio-economy.Nowadays, with globalization and technological advancement, lots of skyscrapers have been built in massive construction rush. However, city skyline, raising and extending without rhythm and layering, lacks identification and aesthetic.This paper mainly discussed from the following several aspects. At first, research of theories and examples about city skyline and evaluation lay a solid foundation for the following study. Then, by computer three-dimensional modeling and analyzing the street skylines of Yuhang District in Hangzhou City and questionnaire investigation about evaluation of these skylines, a large amount of data on skyline and its evaluation has been collected. By comparing several data models,this study adopts the multivariate nonlinear regression model, with the average points as dependent variable, the average height ratio,skewness, near-line rate and average inflexion points as four independent variables. The regression equation describes the influence of these four factors on the skyline evaluation in detail. After evaluating the city street skylines of Yuhang District with the regression model, the paper summarize the characteristics and put forward four suggestions for improving the low-evaluation samples.Furthermore, this paper proposes some principles and measures to design and control city street skylines.
