Investigation And Research On Ancient Garden In Jingdezhen City

Jingdezhen is located in the north of Jiangxi Province,surrounded by mountains and waters,which is the capital of porcelain of China,even the world,since the past.The prosperous economy,profound cultural connotation and its unique historical environment create the prosperity of Jingdezhen ancient garden.To arrange and analyze the development process,garden type and garden typical examples of Jingdezhen ancient garden and to sum up the regional features of gardens through the means of literature induction,field investigation and comprehensive analysis and some others which applied in this paper.Influenced by the unique natural environment and social environment,Jingdezhen ancient gardens can be divided into five periods: First,germination period: From Qin dynasty to the Wei Jin southern and northern dynasties.The temples were established in beautiful places,which could be seen the germination of Jingdezhen ancient garden.Second,developing period: Sui,Tang and five dynasties.Influenced by the atmosphere of learning in the wooded mountain,the advocation of Confucianism and the flowering of religion,private garden,temple garden and public garden emerged.Third,flourishing period: the two Song dynasties.The thought of reclusion of literati prompted the flourish of private garden and temple garden.And palace garden and cultural and educational garden rose gradually.There were private garden,temple garden,cultural and educational garden,palace garden and public garden.Fourth,Transition period: Yuan dynasty and Ming dynasty.Influenced by the imperial examination system and the porcelain industry which was attached great importance by the government,garden form,the quantity and the quality of its type changed with the social life of different class and aesthetic demand.Cultural and educational landscape reached an unprecedented development,palace garden began to mature and the construction of public garden got to a new height.Fifth,maturity period: Qing dynasty.The economy of Jingdezhen reached an unprecedented level in the Qing dynasty.The types of garden also were increasingly rich and there were private garden,temple garden,cultural and educational garden,palace garden,ancestral hall garden,public garden and some other gardens.Officials became the main group of garden construction.And garden from the scale to form have been greatly promoted and people's aesthetic consciousness has promoted the mature of public gardens.In the earlier stage of Jingdezhen ancient garden,the literati of reclusion were the main group of garden construction and officials replaced in the later stage after the government attach importance to the flourish of porcelain.Jingdezhen ancient garden is distributed along with Changjiang River and centered on the county government and imperial kiln,which form the regional features of it.
