Communication-based train control (CBTC) system has become an important tendency in the urban rail transit signalling system. In order to understand CBTC key technologies deeply, a CBTC simulation system has been developed in our laboratory. In order to make the system work normally, some basic data are needed as support. However,current base data are generated and edited manually, and this is a time expensive job and also lacks flexibility.For solving the above problem, the thesis reports the author's work of designing and implementing visualization-based data generation software for the CBTC simulation system. Using this software, it is able to add, delete and modify graphic elements of railway signal, platform and to fast generate, check, modify CBTC simulation data. The details of the author's study is summarized as follows:1. CBTC simulation system functions have been introduced and its basic data have been described. The generation method in the CBTC simulation system has been analysed and its disadvantage has been indicated. Then two solutions for generation data based on visualisation have been designed. From a careful comparison, the better one between them was chosen in this project.2. Through function requirement analysis, the work-flow of the data generation software has been illustrated. The software is split into five modules: initialization,visualization, data generation, data-checking and data-base. A detailed design of these modules has been described.3. The software has implemented the following functions: in the initialization module,to distinguish CAD automatically and to generate graphic data from raw data; in the visualization module, to add, delete and modify graphic elements by using message response function; in the data generation module, to generate various base data based on the graphic data, by making use of data classification and data search and the railway signal knowledge; in the data-checking module, to check data by the location of signal and the length of block section; in the data-base module, to store and access data in a database.4. The application of this software has been explained through a case study of Line 1 in Hefei Subway. Through the case study, the feasibility of this software has been demonstrated.
