Line project overall design in complex and dangerous mountain area is a very complex system engineering. On the one hand, line location is a global work that related to the overall situation, it has the character of comprehensive, concern widely, involving multi-disciplinary applications, itself is a complex work. On the other hand, disasters in complex and dangerous mountain areas occur frequently, complex origin and exist interaction between them. It adds great difficulty to line project construction. So it is difficult to conduct line project overall design by simple way, it should be taken overall design from system angle,and deal well with the relationship among the specialties and parts.Standardized operating program for line project overall design is proposed by drawing on the successful experience of other disciplines, combining with the existing research results and relying on the subject- ’Study on Theory and Engineering Application of Railway Comprehensive Survey and Overall Design in High Altitude, Large Height Difference and Dangerous Mountainous Area’. It is concluded that the line project overall design should be divided into three stages: subsystems division, subsystem optimization and system comprehensive evaluation. And the corresponding quantitative research methods are put forward for each stage according to the characteristics of the line project.Firstly, at the stage of subsystems division, three dimensionalities are proposed to divide subsystems, which are time dimension, space dimension and professional dimension.In order to further clarify the internal structure of the subsystem, the ISM quantitative analysis method is used to decompose the landslide sub-system. Secondly, when optimizing subsystem after professional dimension division,a method called the interaction matrix is used,which can consider the interaction between various subsystems and quantify it’s interaction at the same time, and provides a new quantificational method for the overall design of route location between railway engineering and the natural environment. When optimizing subsystem after space dimension division, a method to optimize railroad section subsystem is proposed, which with the constraint condition of balanced carrying capacity and the goal of most economic, and describes its operation method combined with specific engineering case. Finally, when evaluating system comprehensively, an evaluation model is constructed based on variable weight and gray relational degree, which can take scientific evaluation for route scheme that in tolerable risk zone, by selecting some quantitative and qualitative evaluation indexes and combining subjective and objective weights.
