Canted coil spring has been widely used in the fields of electric power, sealing, medical treatment, traffic and so on due to its unique structural features and mechanical properties. No matter what kind of function is used, the canted coil spring has a better performance than the common spring. But in the course of application, the canted coil spring is in a state of high temperature compression for a long time. Therefore, it will produce stress relaxation phenomenon. However, the research on the design, manufacture, testing and failure prevention of the canted coil spring is still in the initial stage. Although some scholars have studied the application range, materials, manufacturing process, heat treatment, electrical contact and mechanical properties of the canted coil spring, there are few studies on the stress relaxation failure. Consequently, it is of great theoretical and practical value to study the stress relaxation of the canted coil spring.Theoretical analysis of the canted coil spring stress relaxation. Firstly, the micro-segment canted coil spring was taken as the object of study in this paper, which was simplified as the equivalent cantilever beam fixed at one end. The stress conditions of canted coil spring was analyzed. Then the relationship between the force and deformation of the canted coil spring,that is, the stiffness calculation formula was deduced by the numerical calculation method.The accuracy of the results was verified by finite element simulation and simplified method.Secondly, based on the stiffness calculation formula, the stress calculation formula was deduced and the calculated result was coin-side with those obtained by ANSYS. Thirdly, The relationship between the stress and deformation of the canted coil spring was derived. Finally,according to the basic meaning of stress relaxation,the theoretical calculation formula of the stress relaxation of the canted coil spring was obtained and the effect of stress relaxation rate on canted coil spring stress relaxation was analyzed.ANSYS finite element simulation analysis of the canted coil spring stress relaxation. The mathematical model of the canted coil spring was established and on this basis, the finite element model of the spring was established by using MATLAB and Pro/e software; The stress attenuation conditions of the canted coil spring under load was obtained; The effect of ambient temperature on the relaxation behavior was analyzed. In addition, the dynamic equation of canted coil spring in different environment temperature was obtained by processing the stress relaxation curve , According to the equation, the stress loss rate after 20 years service of canted coil spring was calculated, which has provided reliable basis for the service life of the canted coil spring.Research on testing device for stress relaxation of canted coil spring. The overall scheme of the testing device for the stress relaxation of the spring. was determined by analyzing different types of canted coil spring and the main technical indexes and performance requirements of stress relaxation testing device. And each module of the testing device was designed. At last, the structural design scheme of the testing device was proposed.
