This paper focuses on the research of complex sheet metal parts of 3D digital design technology and external morphology of extraction and detection technology for the requirement of error detection in auto industry parts. And it introduces the principle and application of 3D digital technology in detail. Then it proposes an analysis method and sample detection process in reverse design, completely,by using CATIA software and advanced Blu-ray 3D scanning ATOS system. The paper takes the automobile auxiliary frame as the object of study.Using the CATIA reverse module to establish the model of automobile auxiliary frame. And it analyses the influence of the different construction methods of the key position between the surface and the point clouds. In order to realize a CAD model of automobile auxiliary frame for meeting the requirements of the stamping process.Using the subframe CAD model for stamping mold, and then through the ATOS system to extract sample appearance.By the aid of GOM Inspect software to trim the sample point clouds. It aslo completes the best fitting of sample point clouds and CAD model to form a color band diagram.Through the test data, the error between the sample and standard CAD model provides the basis for mold debugging.
