Research On Project Management Of Large-Scale Stadium Construction: Jinan Olympic Sports Center

The successful Olympic Games being held in Beijing has raised a hot wave of sports of China. Provinces and cities are vying the right to host nationwide sports games, such as the Asian Games. This also set off a boom in constructing large stadiums, like the Olympic Sports Center. Constructing such a large stadium requires large scale of investment, large spaces, and long construction period and causes a wide social influence. In addition, design of such large stadium is usually complex and needs high standard of construction engineering. Construction engineering design poses huge effects, up to 70-90%, on the project investment. The most important quality control on design as well as the constructing engineering depends on construction management of the project.Design enterprise plays an important role in architectural engineering design. Based on the perspective of design enterprise, this study analyzes project management of large stadium from construction design. It puts emphasizes on the key element of management: design team management, quality control and schedule and cost control.This thesis adopts methodologies such as massive literature review, inductive analysis, interviewing design specialists, and consulting industry experts who are in charge of case projects. In addition, the current paper is also based on the basic knowledge and understandings on project management. Through analyzing the listed problems existed in the process of project management, the current paper put forward improvement measures and optimizing countermeasures to stadium construction engineering project management.Firstly, this thesis provides descriptions on the basic concept of project management of construction. It describes the principle and characteristics of construction design in large huge sports venues; lists various stages of design management flow chart for all pre-period design, design process, preliminary design stage, construction drawing design stage, the last stage of the service. It further illustrates the design of multiple management factors involved in the project management process. Based on the design of Jinan Olympic sports center, the thesis expounds the design of the project team management, design, quality control, and schedule control and cost control management of the core elements of the status quo and existing problems. Finally, the thesis discusses construction engineering project management optimization measures and countermeasures on Jinan Olympic sports center, and expounds the dialectic relationship of the three objectives on its design and project management : quality control, schedule control, cost control.The thesis puts forward to explore key management elements of the big size stadium construction engineering, and provide references in construction engineering project management for design groups in China.
