The foremost purpose of this paper is to build a system on the rapid maintenance of highway infrastructure.In the paper,a quantitative definition of rapid maintenance of highway infrastructure is proposed and a detailed description of rapid maintenance object recognition is presented.A summary on current mainstream technics and materials on highway infrastructure rapid maintenance in China is afterwards made.The establishment of rapid maintenance evaluation system and the field tests also prove its applicability in highway infrastructure maintenance engineering.First of all,the paper expounds the background of the issue from the perspective of highway asset maintenance management optimization.Considering the high maintenance cost along with the short time,it's essential to define the border.And then a definition on rapid maintenance is put forward as: For discretely distributed damages of important highway assets which may influent the conventional road function,appropriate materials,reliable mechanics and auxiliary machinery should be reached in order to make sure the maintenance operation completed and the traffic opened in 2 hours.Highway disease is considered as the specific form of maintenance object and the recognition method is conducted concerning the failure mechanism and the severity of highway diseases in detail.According to the results of rapid maintenance object recognition,this paper makes a summarization of the currently used materials and processes which suit to rapid maintenance application and abstracts the technical paths of applicable methods.Afterwards,an analysis of the basic properties of the aforementioned material/ process is made to meet the need of rapid maintenance.At the same time,an evaluation system is built to judge the road performance of rapid maintenance from the perspectives of safety,structural strength and functionality respectively.In the end of the paper,the pavement structure repair test in Enshi,Hubei and a set of rapid maintenance experiments on diverse cracks in Taizhou,Zhejiang are taken to substantiate the validity of object recognition and the feasibility of rapid maintenance of highway infrastructure.The article's innovative mainly manifests in:(1)the quantitative concept of highway infrastructure rapid maintenance from the view of highway assets management optimization for the first time ever;(2)the method of rapid maintenance object recognition based on failure mechanism and severity of highway damages.
