Traffic congestion happens more and more frequently on the current urban roads,which is caused by the deepening of urbanization and the rapid growth of car ownership.Traffic congestion not only wastes our time,but also pollutes the environment.Moreover,it's seriously affected the city's Sustainable development and People's life.Intersection is the key of the traffic capacity.It's congestion phenomenon is more prominent.Therefore,How to make better use of the scientific methods to optimize the traffic,to fully tap the road resource potential of the intersection,to improve the traffic safety,and to save the energy,it's an urgent problem to be solved.Based on the optimization theory of intersection organizational management,the characteristics of the plane intersection are introduced,then the typical method about organizational management optimization are discussed,such as channelization and signal control,and the Jixiangcun intersection in Yanta District of Xi'an is took as the research object.Then the traffic volume and signal timing are collected by statistical method.The reason leading to the congestion can be obtained by analyzing the traffic data.To improve the traffic capacity,a method based on geometrical features of the intersection is established.Firstly,the west entrance of the intersection is expand by channelization.And,according to the time variation of traffic flow,the signal timing scheme is divided into sections.Then combining classic Webster method with the idea of phase superposition to optimize the signal timing.Finally,the experiments are carried based on Vissim,and the traffic performance is evaluated by queuing length and delay time.The experiment and traffic data show that the method combing channelization and phase superposition is optimal.It's not only decrease the length and time of waiting car,but also improve the capacity of the intersection.
