Voltage quality is an important index of power system security and economic operation,with the rapid development of national economy,now to the high requirement of the power system is becoming more and more urgent,and Automatic Voltage Control(AVC)is an effective way to improve power system economy and voltage level,also its advantage is obvious,but as a result of nonlinear factors such as the actual network parameters,the realization of AVC system is more complex.In this paper,it bases on substation to illustrate questions,and make a detailed analysis research on AVC system and reactive power optimization.First,this paper introduces the development of AVC at home and abroad and the commonly used control strategy about reactive power compensation,then further expounds AVC mathematical model,AVC system architecture,AVC main functional requirements,the principle of AVC system and the new method of AVC model;Then in order to improve the voltage problem,it illustrates the importance of reactive power compensation in substation,and put forward how to reasonably distribute the reactive powers,so as to achieve the goal that prevent reactive power cycle in electric power network.At the same time,in order to better to allocate reactive power,this paper introduces the network loss sensitivity index analysis,to use its value to determine which is the weakest bus node in network,and then take measures to compensation;Finally,let STATCOM applied to the network,found the optimal installation location,through real-time monitor voltage and reactive power to make a reasonably control strategy.Then by establishing the IEEE-30 bus standard example in Matlab/Simulink,to test that reactive power compensation has been effectively controlled,and the voltage at a reasonable level.In addition to,through the simulation dates,it also test and verify that the network loss has reduced,so it can make a conclusion the voltage and reactive power had been improved,so in substation the security,stability and economy also has been improved.
