Research On The Ethic Relation During The Construction Process Of Traditional Village Dwellings

Social relation is a mutual relation established and developed based on the survival activity of human being,Which includes material relation and ideological relation.The material relation is the basis of all social relations,which refers to the economic relation;the ideological relation is formed based on people's consciousness,it is restricted by the economic relation,and it refers to the legal relation,political relation and ethic relation.Therefore,the ethic relation belongs to a social relation,and its essence and core contents are the ethic rights and obligations between various subjects.And the ethic relation reflects the duty and obligation relation between people,it is the value relation that goes through the ethic regulations,and this kind of value relation is reflected by the mutual need and satisfaction between people.Based on the ethic relation between characters during the construction process of traditional village dwellings,this paper conducts research from the two clues around the social relationship of house owner-craftsman and craftsman-craftsman(same craft and different crafts)from the perspectives of ethics and design ethics.We will study the two aspects from characters under the social relations have responsibilities and obligations as well as collaboration between the characters in the construction process,which is the ethical relationship between the characters in the process of formation and its intrinsic properties in the traditional local-style dwelling houses village construction.And then further explores the ethical relationship in the traditional labor relationship reflected by the traditional ethical thought.The research was completed in two phases: preliminary information collection and later information processing.During information collection,the human behavior during whole construction process was recorded through field investigation,including hiringcraftsmen during the early stage and the house owner moving in after it was completed;secondly,through communication with the house owner and craftsmen who participated in the construction,learn related information of this region,such as the construction custom,and the working hours,income,division of labor and industrial rules for craftsmen.Due to difference in geographical location and climate,traditional Chinese village dwellings are also different on the aspects of craftsmanship,custom,material,construction method and house structure.Therefore,we could not only chose the traditional village dwellings in one area for field investigation,which does satisfy the discovery pattern or have universality,and we should choose multiple different representative areas for the convenience to compare and analyze the investigation results.Information processing refers to screening,classification and integration of information collected during field investigation,and we should respect the objective fact,combine related literature to raise related questions,analyze the internal connection,obtain the conclusion and consider related aspects.Research results and conclusion: both the house owner and craftsmen participate into the construction of traditional village dwellings,they are the subjects of construction activity,and they form social relations through joint labor.This kind of social relations includes the relation between craftsmen and the relation between the craftsmen and house owner,so both the craftsmen and house owner have their specific duties and obligations.Under the influence of traditional ethical thoughts,they form certain coordination approach during construction process to ensure the smooth progress of construction,and this kind of coordination approach should be jointly approved and followed,which is specifically presented in various forms,such as ritual or formula.Because different areas are different on various aspects,such as geographical location,custom and habit,construction process,construction material and craftsmanship,so they are also different on the coordination approach.By comparing the mutual coordination approach between characters in each procedure during construction process of two areas,we exclude the difference factor,summarize the common rules existing in the coordination approach of construction process,and obtain the following conclusion:during the construction process of traditional village dwellings,the coordination approach between characters is a criterion and protocol.Although the coordination approaches may have different presentations,they all reflect the relation between different construction processes,which is a necessary link in mutual coordination between different types of work.It indicates the completion of last procedure and thestart of next procedure,it has become established criterion and protocol during long term,and it was generated under the same cultural background it is also a guiding behavior,which guides the smooth progress and final completion of construction,so that the craftsmen and house owner who participate in construction can perform their respective duties and obligations,and the mutual relation of duties and obligations formed between them is the ethic relation.During the construction process,the coordination approach between characters ultimate reflects a social and professional ethic relation,which represents the common purpose to complete the behavior of construction;recognition of culture,ritual and each other's profession;coordination to obtain benefits through cooperation;criterion of ethics.Which reflect the traditional ethical thoughts of “honesty”,“courtesy” and “harmony” respectively.
