Taking plant application of Nanning sponge city construction projects as the study object,this research went through literature review and field studies,investigated main issues regarding to the plant applications in the Nanning sponge city projects and also provided recommendations and suggestions on the plant applications for the future sponge city project.The aim of this research is to provide recommendations on plant application of sponge city projects,therefore,to improve the performance of sponge city design.The main results of this thesis are presented as follows:1.Suggestions in the process of nanning urban construction sponge using different Ceiba speciosa(A.St.-Hil.)Ravenna?Bauhinia?blakeana Dunn?Mangifera indica L.?Syzygium jambos(L.)Alston?Iris tectorum Maxim.Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum Yieh?Quisqualis indica Linn.?Alpinia vittata W.Bull bamboo,Mosaic galanga wet strong resistance to water,water and landscape effect better plant varieties.2.Successful experience in plant applications of sponge city construction projects in Nanning city:(1)select plant species that can adapt to local environment;(2)pay attention to the ecological functions and aesthetics value of landscape plants;(3)emphasize the application of native species,and apply exotic species with caution.3.The main issues regarding to the selection of plant species in the Nanning sponge city project:(1)lack of social awareness of sponge city and green space;(2)insufficient attention was paid on the selection of plant species in the sponge city projects.The urban green space is disjointed from other facilities in sponge city projects;(3)the application of plant species is not abundant,eco-efficiency have not been able to give full play;(4)insufficient knowledge of building the plant community,therefore,it is difficult to maximize the integrated benefits of green space;(5)lack of attention of soil improvement,affecting the plant growth and results of sponge city design;(6)the design and construction workers have insufficient knowledge of plant selection,resulting deviation in the selection and configuration of plants.4.Recommendations and suggestions for sponge city construction projects in Nanning city:(1)strengthen public participation and enhancing the public awareness of the importance of urban green space in the city;(2)implementing comprehensive urban green space plan to ensure the optimized size and locations of green spaces;(3)improving the knowledge of native plants and maximizing their role of in the sponge city design;(4)building appropriate plant community to maximize the ecological benefits of plants;(5)enhancing the supervision of soil applications during the sponge city construction phase,as well as during the construction acceptance;(6)providing training for workers on the sponge city design;(7)establishing professional organizations and institutions to strengthen the scientific research capacity in the fields related to the sponge city.
