| The initial design of the bridge was that of a 1-lane dual way bridge and had to be redesigned,reinforced and expanded to make it a 2-lane dual way bridge.The work progress on the bridge project dictates that the construction sequence be planned such that it causes minimal traffic interruption,minimal waste pollution,and be achieved with a low overall economic cost.This thesis therefore analyzed the construction process in the reinforcement and widening operations of the SRB project.The work identified the tasks,determined the responsibility of each team member and worked out the time schedule for all identified tasks in the SRB project and successfully reduce the total project time from 82 days to 61.5 days.This will improve the project efficiency and meanwhile,save time and project cost.From the results of the study,it can be seen that reinforcement of existing pillars and subsequent expansion of the bridge through construction of new piles and deck would facilitate the achievement of the project goal of decongesting the city.The study concluded that the Critical Path of a project is key to the success of any project and its determination will be helpful in saving project time and cost.Secondly,construction materials delivery management,if well planned can result in smooth traffic flow over the construction period.There just needs to be smooth coordination with the relevant stakeholders.This research will therefore provide useful information on Project Management procedures and methods for use in similar projects in the future. |
