As economy is being globalized in theses years,container transportation has become the pillar of whole economic development,supporting trades among world countries.From the prospective of bilateral trade benefit,container transportation is required to be fast and steady;from public prospective,it should be convenient and environmental.However,the whole transportation net is complicated in its broad demand distribution,which binder an healthy development of container transportation.The basic problem should be resolved by optimizing the whole net,to realize an utmost efficiency.Dry port,alleviating operation pressure in seaport as well as generating inland resources,offers an absolute good way to realize this objective.Dry port can be regarded as a distribution center of the whole transportation net,while demand areas can be deemed as nodes.Then we can redescribe the problem as how to choose location of dry port in the whole net to improve its efficiency.In developing countries,as a newly emerging large-scale infrastructure,it has not been gradually built and developed in the past two decades.The study of dry ports in developing countries started relatively late,and is still in its infancy.The planning of dry ports is the most important and basic issue that affects the development of dry ports and the efficiency of inland container networks one.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the location planning of dry ports in developing countries.This paper firstly introduces the definition,function and classification of dry ports and the characteristics of dry ports in developing countries.Secondly,analyzes the advantages,disadvantages,opportunities and challenges of developing dry ports in developing countries,and gives the SWOT analysis matrix.Then based on the logit model,a model of dry site selection is established.From the perspective of cargo transport accessibility,regional transport environment and regional economic development,a port-free planning study was conducted on the hinterland of coastal ports in north-eastern regional China.The theory of this article is based on the actual situation,and the factors influencing the establishment of dry ports in developing countries are selected from many perspectives.The practical model of dry site selection is given,giving an intended reference for individual or government decision-making.
