In modern mortar theory,asphalt mortar is the most important part of the entire asphalt mixture system,the high and low temperature performance,water stability,fatigue durability and other pavement performance are affected by the adhesion and viscoelasticity of asphalt mortar.Therefore,the research of asphalt mortar is of great significance to improve the pavement performance of asphalt mixture.The asphalt mortar is a binary micro-dispersion composed of filler and bitumen,the nature of the filler has a great influence on the properties of the asphalt mortar.The physical and chemical properties of fly ash were characterized by using scanning electron microscope,X-ray diffraction analyzer,specific surface area pore size analysis tester and atomic absorption spectrometer and the sort of advanced micro-instruments,and then the performance of asphalt mortar were characterized by using dynamic shear rheometer(DSR)and bend beam rheometer(BBR),and the mechanism of action of fly ash and asphalt was also analyzed.The main results obtained are as follows:(1)Fly ash with light,small size,large surface area,pore structure developed,with a variety of high activity transition metal elements and such characteristics,which are the necessary conditions as a new type of filler.Fly ash is thought with a certain degree of potential in the application of asphalt mortar.(2)The angular velocity ? of the dynamic shear rheometer(DSR)is closely related to the load speed of the asphalt pavement vehicle,the asphalt rutting factor increases with the increase of angular velocity with a linear law.The strain value ? has no significant effect on the rheological properties of asphalt mortar.The high temperature rheological property of asphalt mortar was improved with the increase of the filler bitumen ratios,which decreases with the increase of temperature.Under the same test conditions,the effect of fly ash on the high temperature performance of asphalt mortar is better than that of mineral powder,In different temperature conditions,the asphalt mortar with fly ash as the filler enhance a high temperature PG grade than that of mineral powder.(3)Under the same test conditions,the low temperature performance of fly ash asphalt mortar was not significantly different from that of mineral powder,indicating that fly ash can improve the high temperature performance of asphalt mortar without reducing the low temperature performance.This research shows that fly ash has a greater feasibility in the application of asphalt mortar due to the well physical and chemical properties,fly ash can effectively improve the high temperature stability of asphalt mortar without reducing the crack resistance at low temperature.The results of the research provide some guidance to the beneficial utilization of fly ash.
