The Study Of The Preservation And Adaptive Reuse Of Liyuan-the Historic Liyuan Architecture In Qingdao

Liyuan is a type of residential building which was built in the context of colonial history,it succeeds in integrating Chinese and Western cultural.The architectural form is the very creation of Qingdao citizens;it stands as a key component to the city of Qingdao.Liyuan faithfully embodies and shows the special characteristics of Qingdao and the living conditions of the community at the bottom of the society.In the course of residence,people gradually formed a kind of city life full of human touch and harmonious neighborhood communication,resulted in a unique cultural connotation of the Liyuan.However,in the process of building a modern city,a large number of Liyuans are in disrepair,or were brutally demolished in the transformation of the old city.The Liyuan is facing the fate of the demise.Research on the preservation and adaptive reuse of the Liyuan is of great significance to maintain the characteristics of Qingdao and its inheritance of history.This paper explore the preservation and adaptive reuse of the Liyuan through its history and culture.First of all,through the collection of literature,sorting and induction,to explore the history of the formation of the Liyuan building.Since this unique architectural form took shape from a special historical background,the paper shall classify all basic characteristics of the Liyuan,and then focus on the analysis of the culture.Through the investigation and analysis of the Liyuan’s current condition,the paper shall point out the existing problems found in the building.And then draw lessons from the successful case of domestic historical building renovation,summed up the principles and strategies for preservation and adaptive reuse of the building.Finally,the author will combine theory and practice to design and transform the Liyuan,and put forward specific measures for building reformation and conceive the concept of sustainable development.Hoping this paper can provide reference for the adaptive reuse of the similar historical buildings.
